How to Boost Your Immune System Against the Coronavirus

For years, we have been promoting to our patients the following protocol to help boost the immune system when fighting colds and flus. This can be especially helpful during a pandemic such as the Coronavirus.

Vitamin D: 1000 IU per pound of body weight for 3 days, then lower to 5,000 to 10,000 IU daily thereafter. Get your levels tested, keeping your levels below 100.

Vitamin A: 5,000 to 10,000 IU daily. This should be true Vitamin A (retinol), and not beta carotene.

Iodine and Selenium: Taking up to 50 mg (milligrams) of iodine, along with at least 200 mcg of selenium, for 3 to 5 days can also be a strong antiseptic and antimicrobial. This solution can potentially help protect against Coronavirus while boosting your immune system. As a maintenance dose of iodine, take 12.5 mg daily. Viruses produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) which are combated by selenium to slow down viral replication and mutations.

Vitamin C: Divided doses up to “Bowel Tolerance”. Most patients will start with 1000 mg twice daily and increase by 1000 mg until the bowels begin to loosen, then lower by about 1000 mg. For example, if you take 2000 mg twice daily, but 3000 mg twice daily causes the bowels to loosen, then lower back to 2000 mg twice daily. But some patients can easily tolerate 5000 mg twice daily, and if you can, you should seek to push the dose.

Other Nutrients that are Important to Help Fight Coronavirus:

Zinc: Supports effective immune function lowering mortality in the elderly by 27%. Keep the dose at 30 to 60 mg daily in a lozenge form.

Lipoic Acid: Helps boost type 1 interferon response which in turn helps balance the immune system and are protective in acute viral infections. The most effective and absorbable form is Intramuscular (IM) injections. If injections are not an option, it must be an oral “R-form”, with doses at 300 mg twice daily away from food.

Glutathione: One of the most potent antioxidants in your body, glutathione is required by the immune system for two important reasons: it protects host immune cells through its antioxidant mechanism and it provides the optimal functioning of lymphocytes and other cells of the immune system. Oral forms are not as absorbable, but if oral forms are chosen, consider a liposomal version. For the best clinical results, we suggest Intraveneous (IV) glutathione.

Combat Coronavirus with Nutritional IVS & Nutritional Injectables

With threats to our health like Coronavirus becoming an unforeseen reality, strengthening the immune system is now top priority. Nutritional Intravenous (IV) and Intramuscular (IM) Therapy is a mainstay in improving and optimizing your health. An IV is given in a simple 10 to 15 minute “push”, refueling you in an instant and getting you on your way. We have IM options that can be given either in the office or taken home, making this a very easy and effective option. Contact us to learn more.
