Foods to Eat that May Reduce or Prevent against Breast Cancer

As most of us know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we hear many articles and posts highlighting facts, prevention methods and stories. But what are the ways we can naturally help prevent against breast cancer? When looking for foods that protect yourself against cancer, look for foods that contain phytochemical’s. Phytochemical’s are chemicals naturally produced by plants and when taken by humans, can help influence our own chemical processes in a positive way.  Foods that contain Phytochemical’s are as follows:

Grains-

Wheat, rye, oats, rice, corn, bulgur, barley.

Vegetables-

Lettuce, spinach, swiss chard, endives, beet greens, romaine, broccoli, cabbage, turnip, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kohlrabi, bok choy, watercress, collards, kale, mustard greens, rutabaga, celery, parsley, fennel, carrots, parsnip, garlic, onion, shallots, chives, leek, eggplant, tomatoes, pumpkin, squash, cucumber, muskmelon, watermelon.

Legumes-

Soybeans, peas, chickpeas, lima beans, peanut, carob, dried beans (kidney, mung, pinto, black-eyed peas), lentils.

Incorporating these foods into your diet may reduce the chance of developing breast cancer and also are a great addition to an overall healthy lifestyle.
